Why We Don’t Use SPF in Our Moisturizer

While it is highly recommended to apply SPF during exposure to the sun, SolarDerm is the best product to use post-exposure. Many people are shocked to learn that we do not use SPF in our moisturizer. Why is that?

SPF takes out the potency of the green tea and oat, the main ingredients in our moisturizer. Green tea is a natural antioxidant, and oat is a natural anti-inflammatory. SPF weakens the effect these two ingredients have on your skin. Any time you combine a natural antioxidant with a manmade ingredient (like an SPF), the antioxidant loses its potency.

We’ve all experienced at least one of these scenarios before: you didn’t put enough sunscreen on, or maybe you missed applying some to one area of the skin. You may have even stayed out in the sun a little too long. It leaves you with a night of misery, where you can feel your skin still burning from the exposure earlier in the day. Studies have shown that your skin can still burn hours after being removed from the sun, just like how a steak continues to cook once it is removed from the grill.

SolarDerm, with it’s key ingredients of green tea and oat, calms, hydrates, and nourishes sun-exposed skin, while also helping to save it from sun damage. So remember, use SPF in the sun, SolarDerm out of the sun.
